Banner Daily Financial Management

Description

This class is designed for Meharry employees performing day-to-day financial activities for their division, school or department.

Objectives

Using Banner forms to locate financial information:

  • Organization Budget Status Form – Displays budget, actual expenses, encumbrances, and available balance.
  • Organizational Encumbrance List Form – Displays detail information for encumbrances.
  • Organization Budget Summary Form – Summarizes the revenues, personnel expenses, non-personnel expenses, and fund transfers.
  • Detail Transaction Activity Form – Displays detail revenue and expense transactions that are summarized on the Organization Budget Status Form.
  • Detail Encumbrance Activity Form – Provides detail information regarding an encumbrance.
  • Budget Availability Status Form – Provides detail information of available fund balances by account code.
  • Document History Form – Provides list of requisitions, invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Purchase Order Inquiry Form – Provides detail information regarding a purchase order including detail line items, vendor information, and requester.
  • Requisition Inquiry Form – Provides detail information regarding a requisition including detail line items, vendor information, and requester.

Prerequisites

Familiarity with using a PC, keyboard and mouse. Familiarity with the Microsoft Windows Operating System. Familiarity with an Internet browser.

Banner Finance Self-Service Requisitions

Description

The class is designed for Meharry employees who create or approve Purchase Requisitions for their division, school or department.

Objectives

  • Locating and logging into the Finance Self-service window.
  • Navigating the Requisition window.
  • Querying for a vendor.
  • Validating a Vendor.
  • Entering Commodity Descriptions,
  • Units of Measure, Quantity, Unit Price, Discounts and Additional Amounts.
  • Using the Accounting Block to enter FOPAL information.
  • Validating the requisition.
  • Understanding and overcoming validation errors.
  • Completing the requisition.
  • Printing a requisition.
  • Tracking status of requisitions.
  • Using the Requisition History.
  • Understanding Approval Queues.
  • Approving and Disapproving a Requisition.
  • Creating a Requisition Template.
  • Creating a Budget Quick Query.

OU Campus Web Content Management System

Class Overview

OU Campus provides Meharry departments and schools an easy way to manage their web pages. With the ability to login directly from the department or school website, it is easy to navigate to the page to be edited. Once logged in, users can simply click on the area that they wish to edit, and they are placed in a user-friendly What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) Editor.

Users can only access web content to which they have been grated permissions to edit, and when creating new pages, preconfigured templates are made available to provide consistency in the web page design. Users can upload new images, create forms, tables, links to documents, internal and external websites and more.

Prerequisites

  • A school/department administrator or Web Content Manager must submit in writing their approval for an employee or student to attend this class. System permissions are not granted to any user until training has been received. Once written approval is received, the individual will be enrolled in the next scheduled class.
  • Attendees should be familiar with the following:
    • The Windows or Mac OS operating systems.
    • The latest version of Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer browsers.
    • Creating file structures using the Windows or Mac OS operating systems.

Creating Basic Forms in OU Campus Web Content Management System

Overview

OU Campus Forms feature allows users to easily create and manage forms, surveys, and polls in OU Campus. Users will create assets, which can then be inserted into the appropriate pages. Within the asset creation, a user is be able to utilize six available fields, including single-line text, multi-line text, radio buttons, checkboxes, drop-downs, and multi-select. There are built-in advanced options as well to assist in making the forms customizable. Users can also elect to have the results of form submissions emailed to one or multiple recipients.

Prerequisites

  • Attendees must be a trained web content creator or web content manager.
  • Attendees should be familiar with the following:
    • Windows or Mac OS operating systems.
    • Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer browsers.
    • Creating file structures using the Windows or Mac OS operating systems.

Advanced Form Techniques in OU Campus Web Content Management System

Overview

Each form element in an OU Campus form has an Advanced field attribute that allows users to customize the element.

Users will learn advanced field attributes to:

  • add breaks between form elements
  • add datasets for years, states, country, etc.
  • add fieldset labels
  • add size to specify the viewable size of a line of characters in a text field
  • receive email notifications when a form has been submitted

Users will also learn the process OIT uses for creating customized datasets that can be used in forms.

Prerequisites

  • Attendees must be a trained web content creator or web content manager and previously attended the Creating Basic Forms class.
  • Attendees should be familiar with the following:
    • Windows or Mac OS operating systems.
    • Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer browsers.

Creating Campus Calendar Events

Class Overview

The Campus Calendar is a web-based application allowing users to update their school or department events to the Meharry website.

Users will lean how to create an event, set the date and time, add an event description, set a recurrence, add an image, set an event location, add an event contact.and associate a school or department designation to the event.

Prerequisites

  •  A school/department administrator or Web Content Manager must submit in writing their approval for an employee or student to attend this class. System permissions are not granted to any user until training has been received. Once written approval is received, the individual will be enrolled in the next scheduled class.
